About your Day Away From It All...

  • Date:    Saturday 23rd September 2017
  • Venue: Inchydoney Island Lodge & Spa, Clonakilty, Co Cork
  • Time:   Arrive at Inchydoney for 12noon. We should be finished by 4pm

West Cork is Ireland's gourmet food capital. There are more artisan foods produced in this one region than the rest of Ireland put together! This is where history, skill and tradition meets innovation and community centered commerce.

On your day away, you will be treated to a bespoke multi-course luncheon designed exclusively by Inchydoney Hotel's Executive Chef, Adam Medcalf around the food producers I showcase during my Clonakilty Walking Food Tour.

From butchers, bakers and bean-to-bar chocolate makers via cheese, ice-cream and craft beer plus much more besides, there really is something for everyone to get their taste buds tingling as well as uncovering all the stories behind the foods we will be tasting that are so often hidden from view. I will be there to show you the way!

After our luncheon, we will spend some time taking a walk along the stunning award winning blue-flag Inchydoney beach to help walk some of the feast off before our final stop.

We will visit the Clonakilty Community Garden, and meet Olive and Istvan who are the driving force behind this amazing community initiative. Designed for the residents of Clonakilty Lodge, the garden was designed as a way to build relationships and opportunities for integration for the people that live there. It has been an amazing success bringing everyone together in the community and creating a space that grows fresh, organic produce to eat as well as a creative gathering

place for all. A truly inspiring story, and one which shows what can come from a small community coming together for the benefit of so many.

We are really looking forward to hosting Mothers Union - I hope you are looking forward to experiencing Clonakilty in a whole new way!
